Responsibilities
Senior Technical UI Designer at Epic Games:
Widget implementation, UI Materials/animations, Blueprint scripting, memory management and optimization, pre-production design contributions, support directors in feature implementation estimations, and generally called upon when deadlines are tight, a high priority feature is being implemented, or the margin for error is thin to none. Also create detailed documentation of created systems with video, screenshots, and writeups.
Notable Successes
Sole technical UI designer on:
• Ukraine Support UI (Spring 2022)
• Chapter 4's total Battlepass redesign/technical implementation which has been the foundation for 30% of Fortnite's seasonal battlepasses to date. Units sold was 10% higher than the previous season which was above projections.
• The overhauled refund/purchase flows to be compliant with FTC guidelines
• Star Wars event screen (Spring 2023) which its foundation has become a new core cross-product revenue stream that is simply reskinned (Festival Passes, Lego Pass, Fortnite engagement events: Jujutsu Kaisen & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I included a video (From SinX6) above of that screen to show off seamless transitions between screens and lots of subtle and polished animation in UMG and widget materials.
Project Description
I touched many systems across Fortnite's UI. Some examples are the Battlepass, Social Notifications, Sidebar menu, monetization flows, Engagement Events, Crew Subscription, Item Shop, and creation of core material functions used by the UI art team.
